What services do you offer?

We operate as an online venue in the form of a business directory and advertising space. Our website facilitates the matching of interim managers, independent professionals, executives and directors with suitable business vacancies.

When you sign up on our website you authorise us to use your data and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of the website.

Who can register as a candidate?

You should be an interim manager, independent business professional, director or executive, suitably experienced and able to demonstrate a track record of success. You should work independently through your own business or in a small business of up to five employees. The candidate advertised should be the principal person who will undertake the client’s assignment. You should be over 18 and eligible to work in the UK.

What do you mean by independent?

You should preferably operate through your own company and invoice the client directly for services, rather than expect to be placed on their payroll.

How do I register as a candidate?

Simply click on the candidate register button and you will be guided through the whole process of registering as a standard member. Firstly you will be asked for personal data which will be used to create your account with Plato’s People. Then you will be asked for the information and preferences needed to create your Profile Advert on the open access part of our website and your Profile Details which will only be displayed to registered business users. On successful completion of the registration process you will also be offered the option of upgrading your account – see our product and pricing section.

I have registered as a candidate so why can’t I see my details on the website?

In order to maintain the integrity of our website, all profiles and subsequent amendments are reviewed for quality before they are loaded to the live website. This process should take no longer than 24 hours. We reserve the right to refuse applications for membership. Please note we do not verify any of the information supplied

What happens after I join?

Once your standard membership has been accepted your loaded Profile Advert will be available on the open access part of the website and can be viewed by anyone searching our database. Registered businesses will also be able to access your Profile Details which contain your CV and your contact details or the facility to contact you via our messaging service.

What do I do if a business contacts me?

Our role and responsibility ends once we have provided details of candidates to prospective clients. After that it is up to you!

Business users must only contact you for the purpose of filling specific vacancies. If they are an intermediary with multiple vacancies (such as an agency or head hunter) this should be made clear when they contact you.

Once contacted, you should expect to go through a standard selection procedure. We strongly recommend that you perform checks including (but not exhaustively) satisfying yourself of the bona fide nature and creditworthiness of the client business before providing them with any further personal details or entering into a contract with them.

Who can register as a business user?

You may register as a business user only for the purpose of filling a suitable vacancy within your business. You may also register if you are an intermediary who handles multiple job vacancies for example an agency or head hunter but you must tick the ‘intermediary’ box on the registration form and make candidates aware of your status when you contact them.

You may not register as a business user in order to contact the candidates or to use or downloand their detailsfor any other purpose. This would be a breach of the terms under which the website operates.

I have registered as a business why can’t I use my account?

What happens after my account is activated?

Once activated, your business registration will mean that you can request details of up to two candidates free of charge. This offer is available to businesses only and does not apply to intermediaries. However, all business users will then be offered the option of purchasing further candidate details or advertising their vacancies on our site – see our product and pricing section.

How do I know the candidate is right for me?

Our role and responsibility ends once we have provided details of candidates to prospective clients. After that it is up to you!

If you entered a postcode into our search engine, only candidates able to work at your location will be selected. However we cannot guarantee the availability of those candidates you find or their suitability for your role.

Once you have contacted the candidate, you should expect to operate a normal selection procedure and we strongly recommend checks including (but not exhaustively) verification of identity, qualifications and experience. It is then up to you to enter into a contract directly with your chosen candidate.

I have searched your website, why can't I find any candidates?

If you can’t find anyone first time, try widening your search by leaving some fields blank, if you still haven’t found anyone then there may not be anyone suitable on our site as yet. You have the option of placing an advertisement for your assignment on our site with Plato’s Assignments.

I have forgotten my username / password – what do I do?

Click the forgotten password link under the login box and it will be sent to your registered email address. Alternately click here

How do I amend my details or delete my account?

Log into your account, click the button marked "Edit Info". You will be taken to the "My Account" screen where you can edit your personal information and profile. To delete your account, click the link at the bottom of the form marked "To cancel your account click here", and you will then need to confirm your action.

How can I maintain security and prevent misuse of my information?

Plato’s People will take all reasonable precautions to maintain the security and integrity of our website and prevent the misuse of the information contained in it. However we cannot be held responsible for the misuse of any information contained on our database or subsequently supplied by any prospective candidates or clients to third parties.

We believe that the vast majority of users of our website have complied with the terms and conditions of use when registering. However we cannot guarantee that this is the case as we do not carry out any verification whatsoever of our database users. It is entirely your responsibility to satisfy yourself of the accuracy of the information provided by the candidate or client before entering into any arrangements with them.

You should take all reasonable precautions to maintain the security of your password and personal information. Be wary of requests for additional information and phishing in all its forms, we will never ask you directly for any banking information. Be vigilant at all times.

Plato’s People will not intervene in the event of any contractual or other dispute between users of our site. However, if you believe a user has not complied in full with our terms and conditions when registering then please contact us with their registration details and a summary of your complaint.

How do I resolve a query about my payment ?

All payments are accepted via our preferred supplier Paypal. We do not have access to any banking details and any queries or concerns regarding payments must be addressed directly to Paypal. We do not request your banking information directly and you should not supply it to us in any circumstances.

What candidate products do you offer?

Standard Membership – your profile will be loaded on to our free to view candidate database. Businesses then pay a small fee to receive your contact details and CV.

Website View upgrade – your website address will be displayed on the first page of your profile so that clients can go directly to your site.

Available Now upgrade – You can only buy this package for one month at a time. When your profile is selected in a search it will appear at the beginning of the search results and your immediate availability will be highlighted.

What business products do you offer?

Standard Membership – you will be able to keep in touch with us and if you are a business you can receive details of up to two candidates free of charge – this offer is not available to intermediaries. Please note: some candidates have upgraded their accounts and you can view their website details free of charge when you search the database.

Database Search packages – give you access to the database so that you can contact our members and see their CV’s (where CV is provided) – you select the timescale and number of candidates you wish to view.

Assignment advertising packages – you can easily advertise your assignment on our website with Plato's Assignments.
